Happy New Year everyone. The December Board meeting was primarily focused on setting up our budget meetings in January. 

They are as follows: January 13, 2026, at 5 PM discussing Pay Rates for the Twp employees and elected officials and reviewing the Fire and Ambulance budgets. 

January 20, 2026, from 4:00-4:30 review Liquor Enforcement, Traverse Bay Nature Reserve and from 4:30 – 6:45 we will be reviewing the TLT General Fund. 

January 27, 2026 at 5 PM we will be conducting a final review of the items for any last minute changes.

I will be posting the Board meeting draft agenda on the website after 2 PM on Thursday January 15 and the full Board package by Saturday January 17 after 2 PM. If you have any questions, please give me a call.

DECEMBER 2025 YTD PRELIMINARY FINANCIAL RESULTS

December represents our first month for tax collections. This is a very busy time for our Treasurer, Sharon Schultz.

REVENUE $ 802,260 Lower than prior year ($542,795) and below budget by ($417,520) 

EXPENSES ($2,004,893) Higher than prior year ($110,876) and higher vs budget by ($135,241) 

NET ($1,202,633) Loss is higher than the previous year ($653,670) and budget ($552,761) *

*The Unfavorable variance to budget of $552,761 was driven by the downpayment for the new fire truck pumper of $150,000. Ambulance revenue related to runs were down $28,000 while road expenses were under budget by $71,100 .

TOWNSHIP MEETINGS: PLEASE MONITOR THE WEBSITE FOR UPDATES

The January 15, 2026 ZBA meeting is cancelled as there are no cases to be heard. The Planning Commission meeting of January 19, 2026 is still scheduled but please monitor the website for any changes. The Regular TWP Board meeting will be held January 20, 2026, at 7 PM. All meetings will be live streamed and recorded.
