Supervisor's Desk

Barns Park

From Bob Cook - Supervisor

Hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th holiday. June was again light on items the Board needed to act on. Due to the Zoning Administrator having a conflict in her schedule we put off the discussion on Short Term Rentals “STR”. We will pick up that subject at the July Board meeting. The program will focus on a licensing process similar to other local communities. We’ll also hear about the lawsuit against Milton Township regarding their STR rules.

I introduced new members/ reappointment of current members to the Nature Preserve Committee. In addition, we have initiated a review of our Fire Department’s strategy analyzing our water storage capacity and new methodology of pulling water from our lake entry points. That report may be available either at the July or August Board meetings.

As a reminder, we will have the Road Millage renewal on the ballot in August and if you have any questions related to that, there are overviews posted on the website and sent out over constant contact. This is critical as we continue our 7 year plan of road work and build reserves for the future.

Coming this fall there will be another open house for our citizens to have input for the Park and Rec Plan and Master Plan. We will be asking respondents how much they want the Twp to spend on the various items suggested by our residents for the Twp to undertake.

*The Favorable variance to prior year of $487,755 was driven by the downpayment for the road fund for work in 2025 of $312,447 and the $150,000 downpayment on the fire truck in 2025. There is no road work planned in 2026.
