Torch Lake Township Committees

Following is a list of Torch Lake Township committees. Each committee sets its own guidelines for meeting frequency and agendas.

Board of Review
The Board of Review meets twice each year to correct qualified errors involving property dimensions, size corrections, taxable status, errors by the property owner when submitting personal property statements, clerical errors and mutual mistakes of fact. Day Park Advisory Committee
This committee reviews park areas, activities and rules. Contact Virginia (Ginny) Hawkins for more information.

Planning Commission
Township Development is controlled largely by the Zoning Ordinance - specifying which types of development can be constructed in each zone. With the help of a professional planner, the Planning Commission drafts the ordinance and recommends amendments. Contact the Zoning Administrator for more information on this committee.

Salary and Wage Committee
Meeting once each year, this committee serves as an advisory body to the Torch Lake Township Board. Their primary duty is recommending compensation for TLT staff members. Committee members include three township residents who are appointed to three year terms. Contact the Torch Lake Township Clerk for more information on this committee.

Zoning Board of Appeals
Sometimes special circumstances make the Zoning Ordinance unduly restrictive or causes unique hardships. There is an appeal process for such cases. The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is responsible for expediting that appeal process. The ZBA consists of five appointed citizens and two alternates.
