Torch Lake Township is a civil township located in northern Michigan's Antrim County.

As of 2012, Torch Lake Township's population was 1,194 - and that population temporarily increases each summer with additional summer residents and vacationers. Our community has grown 4.28 percent since 2000. Compared to the rest of the country, the cost of living here is about 2.3% lower.

According to the the U.S. Census Bureau, our township is about 21 square miles - of which, 28% is water. And the water is absolutely stunning! We're nestled between Torch Lake to the East and Grand Traverse Bay to our West.

A few years ago National Geographic named Torch Lake the third most beautiful lake in the entire world because of it's pristine, crystal clear, multi-hued blue water. It's about 2 miles wide and is Michigan's longest lake. With an average depth of 111 feet and 285 feet at the deepest point, it's also Michigan's deepest inland lake. Torch is filled with a variety of fresh water fish including lake trout, rock bass, yellow perch, small mouth bass, pike, brown trout, rainbow trout, and whitefish.

Our lands and waters are, indeed, clean and fresh. Those visiting from other areas can be overwhelmed by the fresh scents of the many, many varieties of pine trees. While we do have many welcomed summer visitors, our community is not what many refer to as a "tourist-trap". There are no strip-malls filled with shops selling trinkets. Our home is simple - and we like it that way.
