Torch Lake Township Election Information

The Torch Lake Township polling place for all elections is the meeting room of the Township Hall - located at 2355 US 31 in Kewadin.

General regulations:

The polling place is open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Persons who are in line at 8:00 pm are permitted to vote.

Voting requirements are that a person has to be a resident of the township for at least 30 days, must be 18 years old (or will be 18 by the next election), and is a US citizen. In order to be eligible, the voter's registration must have occurred at least 30 days prior to the election. Residents may register with the Torch Lake Township Clerk, Deputy Clerk, County Clerk or at any Secretary of State Motor Vehicle Office.

Presidential, state and local elections:

The Presidential, local primary and general elections are held every 4 years on the first Tuesday of August and November. The state primary and general elections are also held every 4 years but at 2 year intervals to the presidential and local elections. They are also held on the first Tuesday of August and November.

Absentee ballots:

Absentee ballots are available in the Clerks office 45 days prior to elections. Voters complete absentee ballot applications in order to receive absentee ballots. Click here for a copy of the application.
